Today is the first day Punisher Season 2 begins filming and already it has the makings of an Emmy award-winning blockbuster. Jeph Loeb and Steve Lightfoot have just announced that they have chosen 3 special actors to play the part of 3 characters who will be involved in either helping Punisher out or try to destroy him.
Josh Stewart has been cast as “John Pilgrim,” a man whose calm exterior belies a ruthless interior. Despite having left behind a life of violence, circumstances will force him to use his old skills and bring him into Frank Castle’s world.
Floriana Lima will play the role of “Krista Dumont,” a smart, compassionate, and driven psychotherapist for military veterans.
Giorgia Whigham has been locked to play “Amy Bendix,” a street-smart grifter with a mysterious past.
“Josh, Floriana, and Giorgia are all remarkable talents and we can’t wait for the audience to see what we have in store for them in the second season of Marvel’s The Punisher,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television.
The first one is based on a villain from Punisher Max known as The Mennonite, a hitman for the mafia who decided to retire from crime and take on a peaceful religious life until he was called back into service by the Mafia to destroy The Punisher. The Mennonite proved himself a deadly opponent to The Punisher with primitive style weapons and his bare hands until he ended up breaking his own rules of no modern weaponry to take a hold of Frank's gun and tried to shoot him with it only to get electrocuted by the gun's booby trap Frank rigged inside his gun. Frank then tipped a heavy safe on his head, destroying him.
The 2nd character, Amy Bendix, is based on a minor character of the same name found in the classic Punisher storyline Suicide Run. The 3rd character, Krista Dumont, is probably a new kind of character not found anywhere in the comics.
I can tell you one thing. The more news I see of The Punisher TV series, the more joy it brings into my life knowing that this show will feature Jon Bernthal's golden Punisher performance once more along with Amber Rose Revah, Jason R. Moore, and Ben Barns returning to Season 2 as Dinah Medani, Curtis Hoyle, and Billy Russo who will now have to put up with having the most scariest, ugliest looking face he has ever seen in any mirror thanks to Frank using a carousel mirror to do a facial makeover on Billy former pretty face.
It will take many months for the production of Season 2 to be completed and ready to be streaming on Netflix come Late 2018, Early 2019. So we're going to have to be patient and wait. In the meantime be sure to check out Punisher Season 1 which is now streaming on Netflix.
