This is a Twitter hashtag I came up with while I was at work today. I’m going to use it, and you should, too. Cuz’ it sure does fit the moods of every Punisher fan who don’t want to see The Punisher of Earth-616 or any other popular incarnations of him get killed off, including myself. While I was at work, I came upon this article from Marvel.com which gives the reader more details about the upcoming Punisher #19 issue scheduled to be released in June. It talks about what will The Punisher face before the world as we know it comes to an end and how he will react to it.
“Frank is someone who tends to ignore the problems of the wide world to focus on the problems in his backyard wherever that backyard happens to be,” writer Nathan Edmondson acknowledges. “In this case his backyard is going to be a warzone in the Middle East. He has a promise to keep and because of that we’re going to see him go back to war.”
Edmondson and artist Mitch Gerads, of course, do not expect Frank to have no reaction to the Last Days —just that his reaction might be a bit more…indifferent than most.
“I should say he absolutely has emotional stakes in what’s going on at the very end,” Edmondson explains. “But Frank’s not one to get all that overly worked up about the end of the world. To him, the world can end at any hour. He puts the skull on his chest every morning expecting to die.
This and the June “The Last Days Of” Solicitations that was released yesterday prompt me to create a new hashtag to post all over Twitter to request Marvel not to kill off The Punisher— #SavePunisher! Anyone who’s a fan of The Punisher whether old or new is more than welcome to use this hashtag to tell Marvel that you want Frank alive and to request Marvel to please release a Punisher BattleWorld Issue where Frank of Earth 616 survives and join forces with several other incarnations of him to take part in BattleWorld. Just like what Marvel is doing with Ghost Rider where he and his incarnations become Ghost Racers engaging in a dangerous race all over the streets of BattleWorld. Yes, I want Punisher and his incarnations to engage in war, like playing a special type of WarGames where they hunt and punish their targets whatever targets they may be.
No, I don’t want Punisher to die. I want him to live and take part in Battleworld. Please, Marvel. Don’t kill off Punisher!
