Oh, Matt. Your Girlfriend's Coming Over.

Just in from Marvel. And yes, this is Punisher related. Daredevil’s arch villainess and love interest Elektra will make her appearance in next year’s Season Two of Netflix’s Daredevil which has just started production as I type.

Elodie Yung (“G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” “District 13: Ultimatum”) joins the next season of “Marvel’s Daredevil,” streaming only on Netflix in 2016!
Yung will play Elektra, a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle. The first season of “Marvel’s Daredevil” made reference to Elektra, but now Yung will portray one of Daredevil’s fan-favorite characters. Elektra marks the most recent major addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as she will join Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle in the upcoming season of the Netflix Original Series “Marvel’s Daredevil.”

Elektra is Matt Murdock’s girlfriend and a villainous, world class ninja assassin of Greek descent who is armed with two sais which she uses to kill her impending targets. Many times she battled against Matt who is in love with her and can only hope and pray that Elektra would turn from her evil ways and eventually become his wife. But Elektra is much satisfied with being a single arch-villainess who became a murderous ninja warrior upon the tragic death of her father. Alongside Matt, she also matched wits with The Punisher in many comic book story arcs in the past. One example is in the Punisher Max series where Kingpin sent Elektra out to do battle against Frank and destroy him. The battle between the two are among the most brutal and bloodiest battles Frank has ever fought. But eventually Frank destroys Elektra and won. In The Thunderbolts (Strike Team Version) series, Elektra and Punisher joined forces with Deadpool, Red Hulk, and Venom in forming a team of anti-heroes that often goes on various missions together doing bad things for a real good cause. Thankfully this didn’t last long. Besides The Real Punisher would have never even think about joining forces with such villains to begin with. In another alternative storyline, Punisher and Elektra marry and had a daughter named Francine who grew to follow in her parents’ footsteps and become a vigilante/anti-hero herself.
Elektra first appeared in Daredevil #168 in 1981 and became one of the most prominent characters in Marvel Comics. She appeared in one of the greatest Daredevil stories of all time when she ended up getting killed by Bullseye who stabbed her to death with one of her sais. She crawled all the way to Matt before dying in his arms. The Hand eventually got a hold of her body and brought her back to life.
And now she will make her debut in Season 2 of Daredevil alongside The Punisher and eventually Bullseye who will also come along to really heat things up for both Hell’s Kitchen and Matt.
