Jon Bernthal was a kid who got bad grades in school. He also got into multiple fights and did a few stints in jail because of them. He ended up taking class on acting by accident when he got into collage. And had to deal with all night sex driving roommates and a gun getting pulled on him while he was studying acting in Russia. He appeared in many movies and TV shows such as The Walking Dead, The Accountant, and Fury. But then he became known as The Punisher who took the whole world by storm in Daredevil Season 2. But did you know that Jon Bernthal wasn't really interested in comic book superheroes at first. At first he didn't want to become The Punisher believing that he'll end up playing the part of a character that has superpowers and wear a $%^*@*! cape. Guess what? He instantly changed his mind when he found out that The Punisher didn't have any of these things. So he auditioned for a role in playing the part of the Punisher on Netflix and got in. Now he's known as The Punisher who will possibly appear in The Defenders as well as in his own solo Punisher series.
"I’m working on The Punisher now. You know, this whole superhero-comic-book thing is something I had zero interest in being a part of. The guys that I really, really respect as actors seem to have kind of purposely stayed away from that. I don’t mean that I’m above that or anything, just that it was not for me. But then when I got to know a little bit about this character… He ain’t got a *&^%ing cape. He ain’t got any superpowers. He’s a *&^%ing tortured, angry father and husband who’s living in this unbelievable world of darkness and loss and torment. Frank Castle resonates with me. And comic-book fans are the greatest fans on earth. It’s not like their insane fervor isn’t based on anything. This is a super-intelligent fan base, because reading a comic book requires you to do a lot of work. You’ve got to fill in all these *&^%ing gaps. I’m respectful of that. These characters exist in their minds and hearts."
Put this in your New Year's Resolution: Watch Frank kick arse on Netflix!
