Casting to Play the Part of Microchip in The Punisher Series is underway!

Here's Microchip, Punisher's ally. Hey, Micro!Well that didn’t take long. After the revealing of the Netflix place card showing the upcoming Punisher series claiming that it will make its debut next year, another big Punisher news have just came out last night, announcing that auditions for someone to play the part of David Linus Liberman (aka Microchip) in The Punisher series is now underway.

Auditions for The Punisher series have begun to circulate, indicating that casting is already well underway for the upcoming series. The show, which named Steve Lightfoot as showrunner, should enter production shortly after Jessica Jones if Netflix continues to stick to their current production schedule. (And it appears that they will.) With that said, although we’re probably some time away from any casting announcements, we do know that casting for David “Microchip” Lieberman is officially in progress.

Microchip is The Punisher’s most closest ally who have been friends with The Punisher for many years, providing him with all the high tech gadgetry, weapons, and safe houses Punisher needs to engage in his war against crime. Micro also enjoys Frank’s harp music. He loved the music so much that he provides Frank with all of the very best harp teaching books and videos that The Punisher needs to master the songs and the melodies that flow beautifully from his battle-scarred hands plucking the harp.
But in the comics, Micro got so sick and tired of Frank’s insanely ultra-violent ways that he broke up with him and eventually ended up getting killed by a villain named Stone Cold. Punisher avenged his former ally by going after and destroying Stone Cold.
In the Dark Reign story line, The Hood (aka Parker Robbins) was ordered by Norman Osborn (aka The Green Goblin, one of Spider-man’s biggest villains), to destroy The Punisher. The Hood set out to do so by resurrecting a gang of supervillains and brought Micro back to life. Then he made a deal with him. If Micro can lure Punisher into his hideout, he can have him witness the resurrection of his family in exchange for the resurrection of Micro’s son who was killed by a crook years ago. Micro agrees, but it never worked out. Although he was shocked to see his family coming back from the dead along with Micro’s son, Frank, to Parker’s dismay, took the flames of Firebrand (aka Gary Gilbert) one of the members of The Hood’s Gang, and burned alive all of the resurrected villains and the family members with it, sending everyone back to the dead. Later, in the In The Blood story line, Micro was killed for the second time. This time by Frank who just slit his throat while they were both being held hostage at a mansion owned by Jigsaw (aka Billy “The Beaut” Russo), The Punisher’s main nemesis.
But in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Micro will make his debut in The Punisher series as Frank’s ally who needs Frank’s help to avenge his family members who were killed by a mob of criminals like Frank’s family was. The Punisher series has yet to have a confirm date although it is claimed that the series will appear on Netflix in 2017. I really hope so. And besides who wants to wait 2 years for The Punisher series to appear on Netflix after Jon Bernthal’s star-studded performance on Daredevil Season 2?
